H3O Pro Magic - honey sugars

I ran a marathon on Saturday February 28, 2009 - Caves Marathon Oudtshoorn and used H3O Pro, a product of Herbalife for the first time in a full marathon.

I ran 4h09 minutes which is about 20 minutes faster than my Winelands Marathon result in November 2008 and about 45 minutes faster than the disastrous run in Benoni in January 2009. In the Benoni run, I did not carbo load, nor did I drink any supplements in the race. I almost crashed out of the race after 21km which was just over 2 hours. I managed to hang on, but the Coke and water was not good.

For the Cango marathon, I did carboload drinking about 1.3 liter of Energade Megaload over the two and a half days prior to the race (of course diluted). I picked up two kg as a result of that - was about 89 the day before the race. The evening before the race I consumed some ligth meat snacks and a slice of bread. The morning of the race I had a light (two spoons)cookies and cream herbalife shake mixed with water and two scoops of niteworks (another Herbalife product).

During the race I consumed about four sachets of the H3O which I mixed in a water bottle that I carried with me. I felt great throughout the race. The half marathon mark was at about 2h01 minutes which gave a second half of 2h07.

My mind was clear throughout the race. Normally when I would be drinking GU (which I have now taken out of my diet), I would switch to Coke at about 30 km or so - got tired of the GU. I took the H3O without a problem the whole period.

My legs are good two days after the race. I feel sharp and ready for the next long one. It truly is a remarkable product.

This was not my best time for this marathon, but this is the best I have felt after a long run in a long time.

On a more technical note ... The H30 Pro Isotonic drink is based on Isomatulose sugars, which is naturally derived from honey, thereby not producing energy highs and lows, or produce any damaging health effects, and produces a slower more constant energy release than glucose. 1. On Saturday 14 March 2009 I did a long and slow run with a partner in preparation for Two Oceans Ultra (56 km on 11 April). I am totally blown away with the H3O. I did carboload for the three days prior to the run. I did take niteworks and a Herbalife shake about 30 minutes prior to the start of the run. I took six sachets of H3O for the run. My partner was running with GU. He was not well prepared so he had to bail (stop running) after five hours. I continued alone and finished the training run in 6h22 minutes. What was incredible is that I was feeling strong in the last section and ran a pace of one and a half minute faster per klometer for the last 12,7km than we did ran up to that point.

I also took a mixture of NRG (Herbalife Guarana) and Thermojetics (Herbalife energy tea) for the last hour of the race. It helps me to keep focusing on the long runs.

I felt incredible during and after the run. I have never been able to keep my pace like this - after 36 km I would normally start to slow down. Man, am I excited!

  2. On Saturday March 21 2009 I tested the previous product that I used to compare. We ran four about 4 hours during which time I used the GU which I used in previous years. Although a good product, I did not feel as sharp as on the previous two long runs.

The afternoon I slept for nearly two hours which I did not do after the runs with H3O Pro and note this: this run was slow and relaxed and in a beautiful area.

H30 truly is the best I have ever used.
